WHERE ARE WE?
Vocational education in schools has been part of Himachal Pradesh since academic session 2013-14.Vocational subject under NSQF has been incorporated by Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education for class 9th-12th.Initially there were five trades/subjects.At present … number of students are enrolled under vocational courses across 1003 schools.Out of 1003 schools, 260 schools have single trade and remaining 743 schools has double trade/subject/sectors.Curriculum is being prescribed jointly by Pandit Sunderlal Sharma Central institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), Bhopal and H.P. Board of School Education. The subjects/trades are part of elective/optional subjects.Practical assessment is being conducted by National Skill Development Council(NSDC) through Sector Skill Councils (SSC).Emphasis is upon skill development/practical. Vocational paper consist of two segments namely theory -35 marks and internal assessment marks 15 and practical marks 50.
Monitoring of Scheme:
A dedicated NSQF cell has been established at SPO level. District Coordinators have been appointed in every district under control of DPO RSMA for effective monitoring of the scheme. The scheme is regularly being reviewed at SPO and DPO level. A monthly review meeting is held on 10th of each month under the Chairmanship of SPD RMSA, in which progress of all VTPs are monitored, further requisite action is also planned for betterment and enhancement of the programme. Regular inspection of schools are being carried out during year 2017-18, inspection of 748 schools have been done. Books have been printed and given to students in 953 schools free of cost. Lab equipment have been supplied to all schools having trade- Automobile, Healthcare, ITes, Retail, Security,Tourism,Agriculture,Telecom,Media& Entertainment, Physical education, Beauty and Wellness, Electonics and Hardware, Plumber, Apparels, Madeups and home.
